Howdy!
Firmware v0.24 is here! This update brings a host of improvements and bug fixes, many of which are based on feedback and reports from the Yaeltex community. We highly recommend upgrading your controller to this version to enjoy a smoother, more reliable experience.
Tip #1: As always, if your controller is working great and you have an important gig soon, consider upgrading after your show. The new firmware has been well tested and it’s even inside some of the most recent models, but it’s always good practice not to make big changes right before a critical performance.
Tip #2: Save your current Kilowhat configuration to a file on your desktop before upgrading. If anything goes wrong, you can always downgrade to a previous firmware version and restore your setup.
IMPORTANT WARNING FOR CUSTOM FIRMWARE USERS:
If your controller is running a custom firmware version (with special features or modifications made just for you), do not update to v0.24 unless you are sure you no longer need those custom features. Updating will overwrite your custom firmware, and you will lose any unique functionality that was added specifically for your controller.
Summary for Users
-
If you use VU meters, custom encoder ranges, or color feedback: You’ll see more accurate and reliable visual feedback.
-
If you use Quick Shift to change banks of encoders: The controller will always show the correct bank and update instantly.
-
SysEx communication is more stable and reliable.
-
If you use MIDI Program Change with other gear: Integration is smoother and more reliable.

v0.24 – What’s New and Improved
New Hardware Support
- Endless Potentiometers:
Added support for endless potentiometers! These non-detented, continuous rotation pots can now be used as a direct replacement for standard encoders, giving you a new, smooth, and tactile control option for your Yaeltex controller.
And they have a switch too, so all the switch features are still available with this new module as well
Visual Feedback & Encoders
-
More Accurate VU Meter Feedback: Fixed an issue where VU meter feedback on encoder rings could behave incorrectly if you had set custom minimum and maximum values for the encoder. Now, the VU meter always matches your configured range, making it easier to see your levels at a glance.
-
Better Color Feedback for Encoders: Fixed a bug where the color feedback on encoders could get stuck or display the wrong color after using the “value to intensity” feature. Now, color changes always reflect the current value and configuration.
-
Quick Shift Bank Switching: Fixed a bug where using the Quick Shift feature on an encoder to switch banks didn’t always update the current bank display or feedback. Now, when you use Quick Shift, the controller always shows the correct bank and updates all feedback instantly.
MIDI & Compatibility
-
Improved MIDI Program Change Handling: Fixed issues with merging MIDI Program Change messages, making it more reliable when using the controller with other MIDI gear or software that sends/receives program changes.
-
SysEx (System Exclusive) Improvements:
-
SysEx messages for configuration and merging now work exclusively over USB, reducing confusion and errors when using the DIN MIDI ports.
-
The SysEx buffer was reworked to avoid rare problems when using the controller with the Kilowhat web editor, so configuration via the web is now more stable.
-
Memory usage for SysEx was optimized, freeing up RAM for more reliable performance, especially in large or complex setups.
-
General Stability & Performance
-
Memory and Performance Optimizations: Several internal changes free up memory and improve the efficiency of the firmware, especially when using many encoders, banks, or advanced feedback features.
-
ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) Improvements: Adjusted how analog inputs are sampled, which can improve the accuracy and responsiveness of faders and knobs.
We hope you enjoy this update! As always, your feedback is precious to us—let us know how it goes!
