LED feedback not working with Resolume

Hi gang,

I’ve recently started using my Yaeltex controller with Resolume again after a break over winter.

I used it a month ago and it was fine but in the past few days I’ve found the LED feedback isn’t working.

The buttons aren’t lighting up when selected and the endless potentiometers which are set to BINARY OFFSET aren’t lighting up when i turn them (Resolume is receiving the messages though, thankfully).

I checked and Resolume is sending messages out (according to the MIDI monitor in Resolume) but when i try changing the paramaters/clicking the buttons within Resolume (without using my controller) the Yaeltex light doesn’t flicker which would presumably mean it’s not receiving the messages?

I’ve checked my MIDI preferences in Resolume and MIDI out is enabled.

I have recently installed updates on my computer and also a recent Resolume update, so these could have something to do with it. But unfortunately I didn’t test it in between updates so I have no idea if or which updates may have caused the problem.

Even so, I don’t see how updates would stop the information from reaching my controller.
I have a gig in 3 weeks so I’m hoping to resolve this quickly.
Can you advise me on what the problem might be?

Thankyou for your help!
Suzybee

Hello @suzybee, good to hear back from you!

If the status LED on your Yaeltex controller does not flashes, it means that is not receiving any MIDI messages.

Some quick questions/things to try:

  • Does the rainbow animation on the LEDs happens when you plug in the controller?
  • Try an older version or another computer to check if is related to the Resolume version.
  • Using a MIDI Monitor to spy on Resolume MIDI output can help you identify if the messages are effectively coming out from the software.
  • Please always report any issues with as much context as possible: Software version, operating system, controller firwmare, etc

Looking forward to get that feedback running back again

Hey @MateoFY :slightly_smiling_face:
thanks for getting back to me!
(really happy with my endless potentiometers by the way!)

  • Yes the rainbow animation happens

  • I have an older Alienware laptop which I used to use for Resolume. I wondered about testing that but I remember when I moved from that laptop to my new one my Resolume didn’t recognise my controller so i had to re-map everything from scratch so I was worried about risking that happening again. I don’t remember exactly why that was the case but it’s made me nervous about testing that. Maybe I’m just being paranoid?!

  • I did check the MIDI monitor in Resolume and it was sending MIDI messages out even when i was moving the paramaters within the software using my mouse (not the controller)

  • Of course, sorry… I’m using:

  • Windows 11, Gigabyte Aorus Master 18 laptop

  • Firmware version 0.24

  • Resolume Arena version 7.25.4 rev 3572 2 April 2026

ALSO, I found a Support page on the Resolume website about a MIDI 2.0 System development in recent Windows 11 updates (which according to the checker my laptop has installed).
I’m working out whether to uninstall recent Windows Updates (but I’m not sure which one it was on my computer) in case that may have caused the issue.
They also mentioned the alternative option to update your controller’s driver - are you aware of this issue and are you likely to create an update for it? (I don’t know if the firmware is the same thing as the driver?)
Here’s the Resolume page about it: Support – Resolume

Thanks for your support!
Blessings, Suzybee :folded_hands::orange_heart:

Great news - a driver update fixed the problem!
I hadn’t realised the drivers come from Microsoft, not Yaeltex.
With the guidance of a friend I followed the instructions from Resolume about how to update the controller’s driver so it was updated for the new MIDI 2.0 system and amazingly it worked.
So if anyone else has this problem you can tell them to follow the Resolume Support guidance for updating the correct driver.
Thanks for your support, Suzybee
