Live15 masterfader midi problem

Hi,

The masterfader on the live15has stopped sending midi. At first it was erratic, consistently sending out values. Yeterday I sprayed some contact cleaner in there. Today still emits erratic midi.

My next plan is to open the device up ans clean it manually but I figured I’d better ask for advice first. Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out before opening it up!
I am very sorry to hear you are having an erratic fader :confused:

To help us diagnose this, we have a few questions first:

  • When did this start? Was it erratic from the moment you received it, or did it work correctly for a period before this began?
  • Was anything spilled on or near the fader?
  • What is the Live15 connected to? (DAW, hardware mixer, standalone setup, etc.)
  • Is the masterfader mapped to anything specific?
  • Is there any feedback going to that fader — either from software or hardware?

In the meantime, if you haven’t already, you can try a quick MIDI monitor test with nothing mapped and all MIDI apps closed:

Move the fader slowly through its full range and let us know what you see — random values while idle, erratic jumps during movement, dropouts, etc. A screenshot would be great if you can grab one.

Once we have the full picture we’ll know exactly how to proceed — and if the fader module does need replacing, your unit is under warranty so we’ve got you covered.

Heres the answers:

  1. worked out of the box, had a gig, then it stopped working the day after.
  2. some liquid came near the very left fader (channel 1) which started acting erraticly. I solved that issue with contact cleaner. No liquid came near the master fader, all the other faders are fine.
  3. Just Live / mac no hubs

when fader at top it shows 127
when fader down it spits random midi between 20 and 60
