Kilowhat won't detect controller

Kilowhat doesn’t detect the controller.

Running through Linux/Ubuntu & Firefox.

Led for signal works fine. Controller works fine on Max / Imac on a different context.

But I need to access the parameters for the leds before an upcoming gig.

Apparently I can’t link my account on the yaeltex website to the order of the controller either and no answer from Yaeltex.

Any help is welcome! Merci!

Hello @xtramedium!

Welcome to our forum!

Sorry to hear Kilowhat is not working.

Firefox doesn’t have the WebMidi API built-in, necessary for Kilowhat.

You should install this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/web-midi-api/

Did you try this already?

Interesting, I am also having trouble connecting Live 15 with Kilowhat.
Tried my MAC and Windows. Tried Firefox and Brave. Tried updating firmware (which changed my device name from Live 15 to KilomuxBOOT in Ableton).

Closest thing I can get is on Brave, Kilowhat is able to detect a controller is connected, but then the dropdown list will be blank (no controller actually listed).

Well I solved my problem by installing the firmware-fuse-0-23.bin and now Kilowhat will detect my controller using Chromium based browsers.

I am not sure if this was the “appropriate” thing to do; nonetheless, my problem is solved. I hope this helps others out but would appreciate a comment from Yaeltex just in case there is a better explanation!

Best of luck,

Well, I installed everything listed for firefox, restarted. no change. when I close a window, it says very briefly in red " “Connection with Server is closed, reconnecting… Please try again later! “ though it’s always the same, so there must be something else.

I am no expert, but perhaps try a Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Brave, Edge) as those worked for me. And consider upgrading the firmware. Those two steps are what worked for me. How to update firmware for v2 controllers using the Yaeltex Firmware Manager

Hello @jtriozzi!
The latest official firmware for live 15 is v0.22
For Live15 there are special releases. Make sure to look for the fimrwares that contain “live-15” on them. The one you mentioned (fuse-0-23.bin) was made for a different model.

The latest non released firmware for Live15, if you want to test it is v0.24

The firmware upgrade should not make a difference with respect to Kilowhat detecting the controller though, if you used released firwares.

@xtramedium what is the name and serial number of your controller?

G\\Z - C20 & G&Z 001 - v2 - Batch #32

I succeeded using a mac computer and firefox. Still not recognized on firefox through Ubuntu.

Off the top of my head, it occurs to me there may be an issue with the name containing a special character, but I’m not able to test right now.

I understand from this quote that you can use your controller in an iMac, but what about in Linux?

Is your controller visible to the Linux OS?
Is it only Kilowhat that presents problems?
Do you get MIDI data from your controller with other software in Linux?
